Receiving Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) messages with SMS

  • Updated

This article explains how SMS-based Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) works, what you are consenting to when you provide a mobile number, and how to opt out of SMS verification.

About SMS-Based 2FA

After completing supplier registration, you will be required to configure Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), also known as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This is a mandatory security requirement that adds a second verification step in addition to your username and password.

When you choose SMS as your verification method, Unimarket sends a one-time access code to your mobile phone each time you sign in.

Prerequisites

Before using SMS-based 2FA, ensure that:

  • You have completed supplier registration.
  • You have access to the Supplier Portal login page.
  • You have a mobile phone capable of receiving SMS messages.
  • You choose SMS, as your preferred 2FA verification method.

Limits and Notes

  • SMS-based 2FA is optional as a verification method, but 2FA itself is mandatory.
  • Mobile carrier message and data rates may apply.
  • Mobile carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • SMS delivery depends on mobile network availability.
  • If you opt out of SMS verification, you must configure an alternative 2FA method to access the Supplier Portal.

Enable SMS-Based 2FA

Step 1: Select SMS as Your 2FA Method

  • During the 2FA setup process, select SMS as your preferred verification method.
  • Result: You will be prompted to enter a mobile phone number.

Step 2: Provide Your Mobile Number

  • Enter the mobile phone number where you want to receive verification codes.
  • Result: By providing your mobile number, you consent to receive SMS messages from Unimarket for 2FA purposes.

Step 3: Complete Verification

  • Enter the one-time code sent to your mobile phone.
  • Result: SMS-based 2FA is activated for your account.

What Messages Will I Receive?

  • SMS messages are used exclusively for 2FA verification. Unimarket does not use this SMS service for marketing or promotional messages.

Example message:

"123456 is your verification code for Unimarket. Please enter this code to verify your login."

Opt Out of SMS Verification

You can unsubscribe from SMS-based 2FA at any time.

  1. Reply STOP to the SMS short code.
  2. Wait for the confirmation message confirming your unsubscribe request.

Result: You will no longer receive 2FA verification codes via SMS.

The next time you log in, select Try Another Method and configure an alternative authentication method (e.g. as an authenticator application).

Verify That It Worked

SMS-based 2FA is working correctly when:

  • You receive a one-time verification code by SMS during login.
  • You can successfully enter the code and access the Supplier Portal.

If you have unsubscribed, you should no longer receive SMS verification messages.
