  • Password Management and Security

    Summary

Unimarket requires all passwords to be of Moderate strength or higher, for security purposes. This article outlines the criteria for a strong password, how password strength is measured, and what to avoid when creating or resetting your password.

    Password Strength Overview

A password strength meter is displayed when creating or resetting a password and will update the strength level as you enter it.

All passwords must achieve at least Moderate strength, to be accepted.

    Strength Level Criteria
Weak The password does not meet the Moderate password criteria.
Moderate The password consists of at least 8 characters and includes at least 3 of the following types of characters: a lower-case letter, an upper-case letter, a number, or a special character (such as !@#$%^&). Passwords should not contain multiple repeated characters (e.g., aaa or 777).
Strong The password exceeds the Moderate password criteria.

    Blocked Password Content

To ensure passwords are secure, Unimarket blocks the use of the following words or phrases within a password:

    • The user's first name

    • The user's last name

    • The user's username

    • The community/supplier's name and display name

    • "Unimarket"

    Tips for a Safe Password

To create a safe and secure password, avoid information that others might know about you or could easily find out:

    Category What to Avoid Examples
Personal Info Your pet's name, nickname, street name, or other personal details. Fido, Smiley, OakSt
Common Words/Patterns Simple words, phrases, sequences, and keyboard patterns. password, letmein, 1234, abcd, qwerty
Obvious Substitutions Obvious character replacements (e.g., o for 0, e for 3). If adding uppercase letters, put them in the middle of a word rather than just the start. h3ll0w0rld

Use uncommon words, non-standard uppercasing, and creative spelling to make your password stronger.
