Suppliers have the ability to map their product categories to Unimarket's UNSPSC codes. This is essential for ensuring customers receive consistent category values for reporting. Particularly, when there are variances between UNSPSC versions or when a supplier uses a different external category system.
The mapping applies to both hosted and punch-out catalogs.
Note: When mapping between UNSPSC versions, only the exceptions (where the code has changed) need to be mapped.
Steps: Manually Add or Modify Mapping
Go to Profile on the left panel.
Select Configure Store.
Click the Categories tab.
To add a new mapping, click +Add Category Mapping.
-
The Add Category Mapping pop-up box will appear. Enter information in all required fields marked with a red asterisk:
External Code: The supplier's original category code.
-
External Domain: The name of the external system (e.g.,
ANSI).Note on Domain: When setting the domain, ensure the value specified matches the value that will be returned from your roundtrip catalog. You can also choose to leave the domain blank, and Unimarket will ignore the domain when looking for a matching mapping rule.
Unimarket Code: The corresponding Unimarket UNSPSC code (e.g., mapping
44101801to44101809).
Once completed, select Add or Add More to create additional mappings.
Steps: Upload Mapping via CSV
For bulk updates, you can upload mapping information using a CSV template.
Download the Template: Click Download Category Mappings.
A Job Submitted pop-up box will appear. Select the Here hyperlink.
The Background Jobs screen will appear. Click Download when the status is in a Finished State.

Steps: Set Default Mapping
You can set a Default UNSPSC Category that the system will use when a category value in a catalog is not recognized (or is blank) and there is no specific mapping setup for that value.
Go to Profile on the left panel.
Click Configure Store.
Select the Categories tab.
Key in the default UNSPSC code in the Default Category field.
If you are unsure of the code, select the search icon in the Default Category field. To locate the desired UNSPSC category in the Browse UNSPSC Categories pop-up box.
Once located, click Select to set it as the default.
Note: If no default is set up and a category value is not recognized, the system will display 'NA' in the category.
